Eagle Raceway Car Shows

Eagle Raceway is having 3 car shows to help spur the interest of those who aren't yet fans of dirt track racing or Eagle Raceway, and to renew the thrill of dirt track racing in those who haven't been out for awhile. So, we'd like to have everyone spread the word to come out and see our local racers away from the track.

Drivers will be there handing out their hero cards, signing autographs and letting the kids sit in their cars to have their pictures taken if they want, so bring your cameras.

The first show is going to be on Saturday August 29th at Durst Auto at 115 "O" Street in Lincoln. It will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Durst is just west of the viaduct at 9th and "O" on the south side. It's just a few blocks from the stadium and this would be great pre-game entertainment.

The second show will be on September 1st at Velocity Karting in Omaha. They are located at 4955 S 72nd St, which is just south of 72nd and L Streets. That show will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Here's an overhead map of Velocity:
Velocity Karting Map

The third show is going to be at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 3rd from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Quaker Steak and Lube is at 3220 Mid America Drive, just down the street from the Mid-America Center and just across the street from Joe's Karting. Here's a map of the area:

Bring your family, bring your neighbors, bring your co-workers, bring your friends, bring your enemies!! But spread the word to everyone about these shows!!!

Eagle Raceway Kid's Night Bike Giveaway - The Bryans Need Your Help

This weekend is the last night to donate bikes for the annual Eagle Raceway
Kid's Night bike giveaway on July 25. Rhonda and Bernie Bryan have been
doing this for a number of years, and the event has grown to where three
semi-trailer loads of bikes were given out to lucky kids last year.

Over 300 bikes went out to lucky fans in 2008, and many potential new ones
last year. Each year, many people come out for their first time - what a
great memory it is for a kid to come home after a fun night of races with a
brand new bicycle? It's a great way to invest in the future of your sport.

But the down economy has hurt - Rhonda Bryan has told me that the bike count
is noticeably down from last season. But there's still time to make more
kids happy and any help you can give is appreciated.

Eagle Raceway's Roger Hadan has again offered to buy a bike for every two
raised by Rhonda's team.

If you would like to sponsor a bike for $42.80 or make ANY donation in any
amount:

Final Deadline:
July 18th, 2009

Rhonda will be available @ the track, sitting outside the pit gate before
the races. You may also contact her @

Dirdrivers.com (username: Rhonda)

Sponsorship Seminar Saturday Nov. 1

From Gary Dominguez:

This week is the last chance to sign up for the Seminar to help you get and keep sponsors for your racing machine. It is this Saturday at 10 AM at the Auto Transmatic Shop in Bennington. Meat trays and chips will be served courtesy of Roger and Michelle Hadan. Sign up by clicking the link below, and click on the blue button on the left side for the sponsorship seminar.

Seminar signup here

This is open to all racers of all tracks! Cost is $10 per person. I will need a final head count by Thursday October 30th. For more details, email me at gary.dominguez@woodsbros.com

* * *

Here's some words from me, Jason:

If you are even remotely concerned about money for next year's racing, you really need to attend this seminar.

Unless you're living under a rock or have been practicing for the role of Helen Keller in the community play, you know economic times are getting tough and money won't be spread so liberally - as if it was last season.

If you think that purses are going to go up, you are mistaken. Yeah, maybe Knoxville's looking to bump up their purse but everyone else is going to let them be the first to try. Gas may be going down, but the cost of parts isn't, and remember all the complaining of $2.50/gal gas the previous year as being expensive.

Anyone knows that to move up to the next level, one has to get out of their comfort zone. Maybe you go to a new track, maybe you take on tougher competition, maybe you start investing time and money into making the car go faster instead of just maintaining.

And when the money's tight it takes more than asking your buddy or your boss for a few bucks.

For less than the price of a case of after-the-race beer, (or for only a few in the stands when you run out of money to race), you can get knowledge to reach more people, with more opportunities to get you the money you need to keep going or get ahead. And this knowledge will stick with you your whole racing career.

Carl Edwards Looking Forward to His Second Appearance at I-80 Speedway July 22

From I-80 Speedway

Greenwood, Nebraska (June 25, 2007)-Returning to his dirt racing roots, Nextel Cup driver Carl Edwards will make his second racing appearance at I-80 Speedway, Nebraska’s only NASCAR track, on Sunday, July 22. The driver of the #99 Office Depot Ford Fusion will be racing in the Dodge Super Late Model division against drivers including his younger brother Kenny Edwards, Joe Kosiski, Al Humphrey, Leon Zeitner, Jay Stewart, Jason Hobscheidt, Rick Stolley and others.
Carl won the Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway earlier this year and raced at I-80 Speedway last year in the Grand National division.

“I’m looking forward to racing at I-80 Speedway again, especially being able to race against my brother Kenny,” said Carl. “He claims he’s going to beat me again this year, but we’ll see.” Last year, Kenny finished first in his heat race against his brother who finished second. Kenny finished third in the Grand National a feature and Carl finished 23rd because of an early wreck.
“This is a true battle between my brother and I, “said Kenny Edwards. “Ever since he started in NASCAR, I’ve been looking forward to taking him on and battling on the dirt!”

There also will be an autograph session from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with Carl and Kenny, and fans will be allowed to bring only one item to be signed. Also, fans will not be able to have their picture taken with Carl or Kenny, but will be able to take pictures of them while waiting in line.
Carl Edwards is currently 6th in the NASCAR Nextel Cup standings and has five career wins. He also is currently leading the Busch Grand National Series points. Carl has been with Roush Racing since 2003 when he ran a full NASCAR Craftsman Truck schedule.

Kenny Edwards is currently 12th in the Dodge Super Late Model division in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series at I-80 Speedway, and is leading the rookie standings. He earned his first NASCAR victory on June 10, and followed it up with his second win just two weeks later. Currently a member of the Total Performance Parts Rising Stars, Kenny was the 2006 Grand National rookie of the year. This is his second year in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series.

Advance tickets are available for only $10 through Friday, July 20 and kids under 10 are free. Tickets prices after Friday, July 20 will be $15 and kids under 10 are free. Advance tickets can be ordered through the office, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets can be picked up at the office, or at the track “will call window.” Grandstand gates open at 4:00 p.m., hot laps at 6:00 p.m., and racing at 6:30 p.m. Pit passes without a NASCAR license are $30.
